Terms and Conditions
The Empato Brand
We are an online technology company providing consumer information to companies and institutions that
need to know what people think and how they behave. This is why we need your help. We compensate you for
that with different rewards as specified in the invitations you see for individual surveys.
Empato is Empato Research SRL’s Internet-based initiative, whose mission is to understand the world’s
intelligence and make it accessible to everyone, from companies, to government institutions and even
university students. This information is obtained thanks to the collaboration of people like you who agree to
share their opinions and online behavioral habits.
Empato members are compensated proportionate to the length and complexity of the research activities they are
invited to complete. For each research activity that we request of you and that you complete (for example, taking part in a
survey, in a debate forum), you'll be compensated with specific rewards as described in the invitation to each research activity.
Some research activities may require you to accept additional terms and conditions specific to them before you can take part. Such
terms and conditions will be presented to you at the beginning of the research activities and you will have the choice whether to continue or not.
Participation in Empato surveys is intended for persons older than 18.
You must receive an invitation to take part in an Empato survey. If you decide to join us, we need you to
provide us accurate information about your identity.
You must have received an invitation to register at Empato. It is possible to receive invitations through
websites that collaborate with Empato, advertising campaigns directed at sociodemographic profiles like
yours that appear from time to time on our social networks and, in some cases, through other
collaborators authorized to invite friends and acquaintances.
You can only have one account as an Empato member. An account is automatically created for you on the
first survey you take with Empato. If you decide to voluntarily leave Empato, you cannot reactivate your
account unless expressly authorized to do so by Empato.
By agreeing to be a member, you commit to providing us with current, complete and accurate information at
the time of registration.
Registering for Empato Surveys Using Social Network Sites
You can also register for taking Empato surveys in a simplified and enhanced manner by signing-in to your Facebook, Twitter, or other social networking site (“SNS”) account information account through the
"Empato Connect" application run on all of the surveys Empato operates (the "Application").
The Application can be accessed on an Empato survey website through the "Login with..." button posted
website landing page, which invites you to login yourself on your SNS account.
After you click on the login button, you will be presented an authorization dialog in your browser that
provides information about Empato’s website and the SNS user data Empato’s website is requesting
permission to access and use.
You will be asked for your permission to register in the Application. By doing this, you explicitly allow and
consent that Empato has access, can store and use your basic profile information held in your SNS account,
meaning your name, e-mail address, gender, birthday, location, and others as may be requested directly via
the Application ("Your SNS profile information"), for as long as you will be connected to the Application.
Based on your consent, your SNS profile information will be transferred and stored in databases managed
by Empato. All information stored in Empato’s databases is encrypted at all times.
If you do not agree to Empato accessing this information, then no information will be available to Empato’s
website. Also, if you decide to remove the Application from your SNS account, Empato will no longer have
access to Your SNS profile information.
Your SNS profile information will be stored and used by Empato indefinitely, or until you specifically inform
us of your intent to have your information deleted from our records.
Your SNS profile information which you consented to be accessed and used by Empato through the
Application shall be used by Empato according with the present terms and conditions.
We provide you with a personal identifier for participating at Empato. Your personal identifier is used by
Empato to provide you with access to the Service, as well as possibly communicate with you for
compensation if we need to award you with any reward or gift.
When you take the first survey in the Service, we automatically create a personal Empato identifier for you,
using your SNS profile information as well as possibly the email address associated with your SNS profile or
which you may provide to us separately as part of the registration experience. As a member, you will be
responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of the data for used in creating your personal identifier and
for adopting any measures that may be useful for keeping it a secret. Remember you are solely responsible
for its safekeeping and use, whether or not authorized, by third parties.
Accessing the Service by using the SNS profile information or email of another member, and obtaining,
using and disseminating the personal data of other members, constitutes a legal and possibly criminal
Activities Required of Empato Respondents
To qualify for survey rewards as part of Empato, you must complete the research activities that we assign to you.
The purpose of these activities is to collect information on your opinions and consumption habits.
Empato requests its collaborators to perform market and opinion surveys. In these surveys, we will ask you
to actively provide us with information. The information that you provide us by completing these surveys will
allow professional researchers (our clients) to improve their understanding of the preferences of people like
Your collaboration is voluntary and free. In no case will you be considered an employee. If your intention is
to become an employee, we ask you to not complete your registration at Empato.
Market and Opinion Surveys
Taking part in market and opinion surveys is how you can qualify for the survey rewards we offer. Surveys can
be on various topics and have different lengths. You will always be compensated for taking part, but we need you to take part honestly.
Invitation to take part.
Every time we have a market and opinion survey that requires studying people with your sociodemographic
profile, we will send you an invitation to take part by advertising on a social or ad network website, sending
you an email, or by any other method that we may develop in the future. We will let you know at the
beginning of each survey if there are any restrictions for participating from that device.
Length and topic of the studies
The invitations we send for taking part in studies only state the general topic of the survey. We also never
indicate the exact length of the study, unless it should be longer than 25 minutes. If that happens, we will let
you know at the beginning of the survey, either before starting or in the first few minutes. The survey length
is estimated by Empato staff, but the time you end up taking will always depend on you.
Remember the longer it takes and more difficult it is to complete a study, the more appealing the rewards will
The minimum period you have to take part in surveys is 48 hours from the moment you receive the first
invitation to take part, unless stated otherwise. After this period, we cannot guarantee that it will be possible
to take part and therefore qualify to earn rewards corresponding to the length and complexity of your participation.
Your obligations as a member
As a member, you must take part honestly in the market and opinion survey to which we invite you. Taking
part honestly means:
1. Providing accurate information.
2. Giving respectful opinions and using appropriate language.
3. Maintaining the confidentiality of the contents of the survey, using any means to avoid the
dissemination of texts, images or videos that we show you when you take part.
4. In general, complying with the regulation in force at all times.
Therefore, we consider the following dishonest participation:
1. If we detect, using computer systems for detecting fraudulent results, that you have provided
2. If we determine that the time you spent to complete a study is insufficient for you to read its
contents in detail.
3. If the information you provide us does not match the details you provided when you registered (or
when you most recently updated said information).
Breaching these obligations may be sufficient reason to delete your Empato account.
You are free to take part in the surveys we invite you to take part in. If you think a survey is too tedious, it
asks for information you do not wish to provide, or you do not wish to take part in it, simply ignore it.
You have the right to receive compensation in the form of rewards we may offer in exchange for your correct and complete
participation in surveys, no matter how brief they may be.
Cancellation of Your Empato Account
If you want to leave us, you can do so at any time using your personal Empato account. If you do so, you will
lose all unclaimed rewards for the surveys you have participated in. We may also delete your account if you
do not collaborate honestly with us.
Your personal account may be canceled for three reasons:
Because you decide to abandon Empato
You can leave Empato voluntarily at any time from your personal Empato account. Once you leave, you will
lose the right to claim any rewards you may have not yet collected to that date.
Because Empato cancels your account
For our part, we reserve the right to delete your Empato account if:
1. You have not provided exact, current and complete information when you registered.
2. You do not update your personal data when necessary, in particular with regard to data related to a
change of email address.
3. We detect, using computer systems, that you have registered at Empato on more than one
occasion, providing false identities for that purpose. In this case, you can reactivate your account if
you prove your identity with an official document (national ID document or passport).
4. We detect that you have taken part dishonestly in the activities that we have offered you, whether in
market and opinion surveys or sharing your online behavioral data, as we have described above.
5. You are younger than eighteen years old or you do not meet the registration requirements expressly provided in these Terms and Conditions.
6. You revoke your consent to receive communications from us through email or other medium.
7. You breach any of the obligations indicated in these Terms and Conditions.
Empato reserves the right to delete your Empato account under any of the above circumstances or,
alternatively, to warn you to rectify the cause of the breach.
Intellectual and Industrial Property
You must not use the contents of our website, our mobile app or the market and opinion surveys we send you,
for your own purposes.
As a member, you recognize and accept that all intellectual and industrial property rights on the contents
and/or any other items found on the Empato website, and especially in the surveys to which you have
access (including, but not limited to, trademarks, logos, texts, images, videos, graphics, etc.) belong to
Empato and/or third parties.
Neither access to Empato nor your participation in published surveys will entail, in any case, your acquisition
of the property rights of the contents that appear therein.
We need you to declare that you are aware that you accept these conditions and the consequences that the
misuse of this service may entail for you.
By agreeing to take an Empato survey, you are aware of, and voluntarily accept, that your participation in
Empato takes place, in any case, under your sole and exclusive responsibility and you accept that you are
responsible for any direct and indirect damages that Empato may suffer as a result of your fraudulent
Compliance with Laws
Being an Empato member means that you are a person who complies with laws. We take it for granted that
you do not have any interest in interfering in our business or causing harm, whether to us or to other members.
By agreeing to be an Empato member, you commit to access and use the Empato website in
accordance with the law, these Terms and Conditions and the moral standards and generally accepted best

parties, or in any way that may damage or disable the website or third-party rights.
Operation and Availability of the Website
We will try to ensure our website is always operating correctly. Sometimes, we may have technical problems,
but these do not give our collaborators the right to claim for damages.
Empato does not guarantee the availability and continuity of the operation of the Empato website, other
websites with which a link has been established. When dealing with computers, electronics and the Internet,
there may be a reason why something can go wrong. This includes malicious third-party attacks, although
we do everything we can to ensure that this never happens.
Furthermore, Empato will never be liable for any direct and indirect damages that may arise from these

We are responsible for our own content, but not for the content that you may access from links that may
appear on our website and mobile app.
Through Empato you can access websites belonging to and/or managed by third parties. Empato is not
responsible for third parties, since they operate independently. However, if we become acutely aware that a
third party is involved in activities we do not tolerate, their links will be removed from our community.
Value of Survey Rewards
We reserve the right to modify the survey rewards at any time. If an erroneous and/or manifestly absurd
price should appear, whatever the reason may be (computer bug, human error, technical error, etc.), the
order will be canceled even if it has been initially validated. We will try to use every measure to ensure this
does not happen.
Delivery Times Survey Rewards
If the reward you qualify for requires delivery by courier, it will normally take 15-40 days to arrive. If there are problems
with the delivery, we are committed to investigating it.
The delivery time for a survey reward that requires physical delivery varies between 15 to 40 business days from the
date when the order was made.
If you do not receive a survey reward by the latest date indicated, we will carry out an investigation jointly with the
shipping company or supplier. The investigation lasts approximately fourteen (14) business days. The
delivery time for survey rewards that do not require physical delivery range from 24 hours to 7
Delivery of Physical Survey Rewards
Depending on which reward you may qualify for, you may receive your reward by different means. Always check your survey reward
upon arrival as it should be in good condition.
In general, deliveries are managed through courier companies. If the recipient is not present, the
management of the incident will depend on the corresponding courier company, which may vary based on
the country, region and type of reward.
When you receive the reward, it is important to check that it is in perfect condition. If you are not satisfied with
the product delivered, or its condition, you must contact us immediately.
If we cannot deliver a reward to you because you have provided us with an incorrect or incomplete address or
you cannot be found at delivery time, and if a new delivery entails an additional cost to the shipping
company, we reserve the right not to be responsible for this additional cost. In this case, you may receive the
reward if you pay the additional cost to the shipping company.
If you request a reward and we cannot deliver it due to lack of stock, if possible, we will propose a replacement
product of an equivalent quality and cost.
Warranty on Products
All rewards are covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
All products that Empato offers include the manufacturer or distributor's warranty. This covers not only
manufacturing defects, but also any faults that occur during the warranty period. We strongly recommend
you check the product documentation or the manufacturer's online support, where you will find the
contractual data of the warranty, troubleshooting, steps to follow, terms, cover, etc.
Empato will be limited to applying the conditions set in each of the manufacturer's warranties.
If you receive a defective or broken reward, you must immediately let us know. We will ask you to provide us
with images or videos that show the fault or breakage, so we know what to do and can tell you the
procedure to follow.

Changes in Terms and Conditions
Sometimes we need to change these general terms and conditions. If we do so, we will inform you properly
through our website and our mobile app.
Empato reserves the right to make changes to these Terms and Conditions. To that end, we commit to
publishing the change via the empato.com website, and, as an option, in a notice sent to each member.
This Contract will be governed by Romanian law and the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Romanian courts.
